Moving on from abuse by someone who was close to you takes time and can be difficult. Once you are away from the abuse, and it is safe to feel again, you may experience very mixed emotions. It is not unusual to feel grief, pain and a profound sense of loss.

East Ayrshire Women’s Aid can support you even where the abuse happened a long time ago. Our group programmes help women, children and young people make sense of their experiences. We organise family and group activities where women and children can have fun together and make new friends. By focussing on your strengths we can help you to imagine a different kind of future for yourself and your children.

We know that, with the right support, survivors of domestic abuse can recover from its effects and live safe and fulfilling lives.

“It has taken time but I am feeling better and more in control of my life’.
