East Ayrshire Women’s Aid is a charity that supports women and children who have experienced domestic abuse, campaigns to raise awareness of this issue and works in partnership with others to tackle violence against women and girls. We are affiliated to Scottish Women’s Aid.

We accept referrals from statutory agencies, employers and other third sector organisations. We also accept self-referrals from women and young people aged 13 and over. We offer one to one appointments, a drop-in service, group programmes and activities from our centres in Kilmarnock and Cumnock. Our Outreach Support Workers support women, children and young people in their own communities.

We will work with women and children at their pace and on their terms. We know that making the first step is difficult. Some women will need practical help, others may move into our refuge until they can find alternative accommodation for themselves and their children, others will continue to live in their own homes and some will move in with relatives or friends. In almost all cases the women are experiencing financial and housing difficulties as well as emotional and health problems. Our services are person-centred and aim to provide whatever practical and emotional support a woman, child or young person needs.

As an organisation we try to bring our values of empowerment, respect, inclusiveness and integrity to everything we do. We believe all the women, children and young people who come to us for support. We believe they have a right to live free from all forms of violence and abuse.

If you would like to find out more or make a referral, please get in touch.

Our staff team are registered with the Scottish Social Services Council. We meet the Scottish Women’s Aid National Standards for Domestic Abuse Services.
